For security reasons, the Microsoft VBA module is not included in the Inventor 2021 installer. It has a dependency on the Visual Studio 2010 (VC10) runtime, which Microsoft will not support after July 2020. Learn about Microsoft’s support plans here: Microsoft Visual C Redistributable. The download link below installs VBA and the required VC10 redistributable. For 2018 version, Inventor and Inventor Professional are sharing the same installer. In a continuing effort to speed install time for our customers, Autodesk has released Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 with a subset of the Mold Design Metric Desktop Content library. This subset of the Inventor Mold Design Metric Desktop Content library includes all components necessary for the Mold Design Samples and Tutorials.
Additionally, Autodesk Vault 2018 products also provide a subset of the Mold Design Metric Remote Content library which contains the same components as the subset Desktop content library.
The three complete Mold Design Desktop & Remote Content libraries are provided separately via download for Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 Mold Design. These content libraries contain all available Mold Design content.

Notes About Installation
- The six complete Mold Design content libraries, for Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 Mold Design, can be downloaded by selecting Inventor Products and 2018 version under the Service Packs & Fixes download finder.
- Any combination of the desktop content or remote content libraries can be installed: Metric/mm, Imperial/Inch, or Meusburger.
- The subset and complete versions of the Mold Design Metric Content Library have the same filename and cannot be installed at the same time. Follow the instructions below to ensure the subset file is removed prior to installing the full version.
Before installing the Mold Design content libraries for Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018, ensure you have the following installed according to your usage of content libraries:
- Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018.
- Content Center Libraries for Inventor Desktop Content.

Installation Instructions
The subset of the Mold Design Metric Desktop Content Library was included with the installation of Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 Mold Design and the corresponding Remote subset library was installed with Autodesk Vault 2018. To install the complete version libraries for Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 Mold Design these subset libraries must be removed. Execute the following instructions based upon your usage of the content libraries:
- Download the desired Mold Design Desktop Content Libraries:
- Ensure no Autodesk applications are running on your system.
- Obtain the Inventor Desktop Content installation directory:
- Start Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018.
- Access Tools > Application Options > Content Center.
- Make a note of the Inventor Desktop Content installation directory as listed in the Location of Libraries field.
- Shutdown Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018.
- To ensure the complete Desktop Content Library can be installed, the existing .idcl file should be removed.
- Open a Windows Explorer window and browse to the Inventor Desktop Content installation directory obtained above.
- If file AI2018_Inventor Mold Metric.idcl exists (the subset Metric library file) and you plan on replacing it with the complete version, manually delete it or move it to a side folder.
- To install each complete Mold Design Desktop Content Library separately, uncompress the downloaded .zip file:
- When prompted, browse to the Desktop Content installation location obtained above and unzip.
- For each library, this may take several minutes.
- When Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 is next started, select the library you need to access by selecting Manage > Projects > Configure Content Center Libraries.
- Download the desired Mold Design Remote Content Libraries:
- To ensure the complete Remote Content Library can be installed, the existing subset Metric library should be removed.
- Start Autodesk Data Management Server Console 2018.
- Expand the libraries node and look for the AI2018_Inventor Mold Metric Library.
- If the AI2018_Inventor Mold Metric library exists (the subset Metric library file) and you plan on replacing it with the complete version, select and delete it from the Actions menu.
- To install each complete Mold Design Desktop Content Library separately:
- When prompted, browse to the location where the database files are located and extract the zipped files. Note: by default the databases are located in a SQL Data folder.
- For each library, this may take several minutes.
- In the Autodesk Data Management Server Console, select the Libraries node, then select Attach in the Actions menu.
- Browse to the newly unzipped location and select the libraries.
- When Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 is next started, select the library you need to access by selecting Manage > Projects > Configure Content Center Libraries.

Contents
- This tool allows users to view native Autodesk Inventor 2018 CAD data.
- Install only the bit-type version of Autodesk Inventor View 2018 standalone corresponding to the bit-type version of your operating system.
- .NET 4.6 is recommended for the installation of Autodesk Inventor View 2018 standalone.
- When you try to extract Autodesk SFX files on Windows 7 without an internet connection, a message displays indicating the publisher cannot be verified. To resolve this issue, see Installation Files Not Extracting from SFX Download.
Installation Requirements
- Inventor View 2018 standalone supports Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 8 & 8.1 64 bit and Windows 10 64 bit at the latest service pack and update level. If your operating system does not meet these requirements, please update it before attempting the installation.
- Verify you have administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor View 2018 standalone.

- Before you begin...
- Install Microsoft .NET 4.6 if not already present.
- Install all Windows Updates that are pending on your machine and reboot:
- Verify that enough disk space is available on your machine to install Autodesk Inventor View 2018 standalone.
Windows 7: Windows Update is located in the Control Panel, and on the sidebar.
Windows 8.1: From the Desktop, Windows Update is located in the Control Panel.
Windows 10: From the Desktop, Windows Update is located under Settings.
It is sometimes necessary to perform Windows Update multiple times to completely update your operating system.
Inventor Student 2018
- To install the standalone version of Autodesk Inventor View 2018:
- Download the appropriate Inventor View 2018 installation files to a temporary location on your computer hard drive.
- Double click on the self-extracting executable to unpack and initiate the installer.
- Follow the installer prompts and when done, click Finish.
- If required, reboot the system after the installation is finished.
Autodesk Inventor Free Download Student
To verify the installation was successful, start Autodesk Inventor View 2018 standalone. On the Help menu, select About Inventor View... If the About box displays: Build: 112, Release: 2018, the installation was successful.
